Pratigya Simkhada Banskota, Political Advisor of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (Embassy of Switzerland in Nepal), on March 20, 2021 visited Terai Human Rights Defenders Alliance’s Province-2 Office in Janakpurdham.
During her visit, Banskota met with citizenship victims and discussed about various issues and challenges related to statelessness.
Most of the victims informed that despite winning court battles, they have been denied to get citizenship due to bureaucratic hurdles.
THRD Alliance’s Executive Director Mohan Kumar Karna also briefed about the legal and practical challenges regarding the citizenship and also told about the things to be done after winning the court battle. Karna also assured that THRD Alliance would continue supporting for the legal intervention on citizenship issues.
